SOME SORT OF NORMALITY RETURNS!
A BIG thank you for supporting us over the past 2 years. As you know we have had to do things differently. We are grateful that our prioritisation of Covid safety has meant our team has managed to stay covid free and we have therefore not had to close at any time other than the imposed lockdowns.
WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW?
We realise that some have enjoyed a slower start to the day and have found breakfast in the bedrooms the perfect way to start in the morning and for those being cautious (or where you have a dog that does not like being left alone), this arrangement has been a real help and a less stressful start to the day.
That being said, we also know that many miss the atmosphere and interaction of the dining room, preferring to come downstairs for some chat along with breakfast to start the day.
With these points in mind and hoping to allow you to start your day in a way which best suits you, we have decided on a trial basis, to offer a choice.
When we ring you, the day before your arrival at The Old Vic, we will now be asking where you would like your breakfast served whilst staying with us, while also checking the booking details and taking the balance payment for your stay.

UPDATE: 15th July 2021
As you may know, most of, but not all of, social rules and restrictions will lift nationally from July the 19th. However, as we remain a small family run business and team we have decided for the ongoing safety of our staff and guests to keep a few things as they are for now.
We’ve really enjoyed being back open and welcoming so many of you and we want to ensure we can continue doing so. For this reason, we hope you understand, and as always you can still guarantee we will do everything we can to ensure you have the best stay possible.
Below is a brief outline of the changes that will remain in place, for now:
· Wherever possible breakfast will continue to be served in the bedrooms.
· All breakfast orders will still be taken by 7pm the night before.
· We will not automatically be servicing the rooms on a daily basis.
· We will be calling the day before you’re due to arrive with us to settle the balance of your stay.
· Hand sanitizer stations will remain in place.
· We noted how many of our guests have expressed the intention to continue wearing masks in our public areas and in the interests of safety and community we intend to do the same.
We are pleased to be seeing hundreds of guests a week at the moment which is wonderful after so long being closed, yet it is our strongest priority to keep you, our staff and their families as safe as possible.
It is also a wish to avoid isolation, as this would once again impact our small family run business with the likelihood of closure. An outcome we definitely want to avoid!
Thank you to all of our fabulous guests who have been so supportive and understanding over the past year. We are deeply appreciative of all of you and you’ve made the hard work adapting, that has been going on behind the scenes, worthwhile.

Covid-19 Information and Guidelines
The following information is dynamic and will alter from time to time reflecting changes to Government advice. The health of our staff and guests as our No.1 priority and we hope these guidelines offer some reassurance.
Note: There is usually a time-lag between booking a stay with us and actually staying, so please check that you have the latest information before to leave home. We’ll update things on our website on an ongoing basis.
The Lake District.
Although there are busy tourist ‘honey-pots’, there is also an abundance of fresh air, space and wonderful walks. Places to visit, activities and eateries are now generally open. We do recommend that you use the internet to check on revised opening details for tourism businesses in the area.
Making a Booking.

Note: Deposits will be held for 12 months from the date of original booking for Covid related cancellations.
Before Your Stay.
You will receive a confirmation email prior to your stay which will update you on the current situation. If you have any questions about this, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will call you 24 hours before your stay to check you are feeling well, highlight key elements of the current Covid-19 advice and to take final payment. The latter point will mean there will be no payment required when at The Old Vicarage.
If you are unwell before your stay, please postpone your stay. Do not risk your health or the health of others.
You can check-in from 3pm till 8pm. If you arrive before this time, you may leave your car in the car park, but you must let us know and give us your car’s registration number.
No forms will need to be filled in by you on arrival.
We ask arriving guests to use the hand sanitiser station at reception and to carry their own bags. Our team members will escort guests to their bedrooms if required and will be able to provide as much or as little interaction as required by each individual guest. Your room will be open and your sanitised key will be waiting for you.
We reserve the right to check your temperature prior to you being checked in.
Whilst At The Old Vicarage.
We have carried out a full risk assessment in line with Government guidelines. Key points include:
It is mandatory for guests to wear face coverings in public areas of the Old Vicarage.
Please try to maintain 2 metres social distancing wherever possible. As you will be aware, the Government has introduced a ‘1 metre plus’ option, on the few occasions when 2 metres is not possible, such as when passing in corridors. We ask all to follow government guidelines on group gatherings. Please be aware of other guests and staff and be courteous at all times.
Before we re-open, all staff will have been trained on how to keep guests safe. This will include the use of PPE, helping guests with Covid-19 questions, identifying symptoms, food preparation, serving protocols and our enhanced cleaning regime.
Before we re-open all areas of the property will be made safe. We will maintain a rigorous cleaning regime when open and your will see public areas (especially high ‘touch-point areas such as handles, bannisters, etc) being sanitised on a regular basis. We expect all guests to maintain excellent hand hygiene by using the hand sanitiser stations.
Residents should use their ensuite facilities.
The Pool, Hot tub and Sauna are open, but on a prebook basis only. You will receive details on arrival.
The Lounge, Garden and Terrace.
These areas are fully available to guests, as long a social distancing is maintained. Seating is arranged to assist with this, though there will be maximum numbers in each space. When weather allows, windows will be opened to ensure fresh air permeates the building.
Things like leaflets, newspapers and magazines will no longer be available. Note that there is WiFi throughout the property for accessing information via laptop, tablet or phone.
Breakfast will be served in your room. There is no additional cost for this service. Breakfast must be ordered by 7pm the day before. Wherever possible, we will be providing areas within each room to facilitate dining. The only exception to in-room dining will be for our family rooms, when there are more than two occupants.
Many local eateries will also re-open on 17th May. We can advise you on places to dine, but you are also free to use the dining area in your bedroom for takeaway food. We can provide cutlery and crockery upon request or you are welcome to bring your own.
Housekeeping & Room Servicing.
Your room will be thoroughly cleaned before your arrival. We will not access your room for the duration of your stay, top ups for the room (i.e. teas, coffees, towels, etc.) will be available on request, please telephone us at reception before you go out for the day.
If for whatever reason, we do need to enter your room (i.e. should there be maintenance issues) you will be asked to leave your room and a member of staff, wearing a face mask, will enter to complete the work and sanitized touched areas before handing the room back to you.
All laundry will be removed and washed at high temperatures. All non-essential items (magazines, leaflets, booklets, tissues, etc) will be removed from the rooms. Once cleaning is complete, UV lights will be used in the rooms to enhance our measures.
When at The Old Vicarage, please keep your dog on a lead and under control at all times.
When You Depart.
Check-out is strictly by 10.30am. We cannot extend check out. If possible it would be appreciated if you could leave your windows open when you depart. As you have already paid, simply leave your key at reception and we hope to see you again soon.
Use of PPE.
For their and your protection, our staff will be wearing PPE where appropriate. Please be assured that staff are trained on how to use this.
We will not be insisting on guests wearing PPE, but you are, of course, welcome to do so.
Depending on the Government advice at the time, we reserve the right to check the temperature of staff and guests.
