There are lots of nice places to eat in Ambleside and the surrounding countryside.
There are small cafes and large restaurants, pubs doing excellent bar snacks and pubs doing fine cuisine. There are fish and chip shops, Indian, Chinese, Italian and Thai restaurants and even two Italian Style Vegetarian Restaurants with Cinemas attached! Some are open through the day, some just at night. Some do excellent lunches and scrumptious afternoon teas and others open just to serve dinners in the evening.
There are takeaways and sandwich shops offering all sorts of variations (you might like to think of those, for a packed lunch to eat whilst sitting on top of a mountain!). Most are within an easy walk of the Old Vic but if you want to go out in the car (or by taxi) then we can direct you to even more.
